Tell me one thing how many of us love our body? What do you think that it should be taken care or not? I think you also believe in the same what I am thinking means it should be taken care. All the organs present in the body plays a vital role in the functioning of different systems.

One of the major organs is the kidney. In Hindi, it is called as Gurda. Don’t you think they deserve some love? They are super important for our health. They filter our blood, produce various hormones, absorb vital minerals, produce urine and eliminate toxins.

Did you know the damage of our kidneys goes unnoticed for years because of which our kidney loses its function? Therefore many of kidney diseases are known as silent disease. This is why it is important to take care before its too late.

Here is some common practice that should not be followed by us to protect our kidneys.

1. Not drinking enough water – Kidney is the one organ which filters the blood, eliminates all the toxins and waste material. When you don’t have enough water all the toxins get accumulated and can cause severe damage to the body.
2. Too much salt intake – Consumption of too much salt intake raises the blood pressure and put extra load on the kidneys. We all know that sodium is needed by our body to function well so follow a thumb rule of having 5 grams of salt per day not more than that. If you are hypertensive follow the advice of the doctor.
3. Delaying of nature’s call – Many of us ignore the urge to go to the washroom and avoid many public toilets as they are not in good condition and sanitised properly. This increases the urine pressure and can help in the formation of kidney stones and may also lead to kidney failure. So it is requested to all of you don’t ignore your nature call.
4. Too much animal protein – Increase intake of red meat, mutton, pork, and beef increases the metabolic load on your kidney which means your kidney has to work harder and that leads to kidney damage.
5. Consumption of painkiller - Excessive use of painkiller abuse can lead to kidney and liver damage.
6. A sedentary lifestyle – Lack of physical activity causes a lot of kidneys issue and that can be solved if you include a little a little walk. For eg – you can go for a walk with a friend or relative which will become easier for you to go for a long time. Exercising makes the body function in proper and healthy manner.
7. Binge drinking – Smoking cigarettes and Alcohol cause dehydration in the body which affects the performance of other organs as well. Most of the liver diseases are caused because of excessive alcohol intake which in turn obstructs the blood flow to the kidneys.
8. Indulging your sweet tooth too often - Having excess sweet foods like desserts, candy, and packaged snacks and sodas can be bad for your kidneys. Increase in these foods increases the level of uric acid which may worsen the profile of your kidneys.
