I can understand that office hours are really hectic and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is the most difficult task there. As at least eight hours of sitting just in front of the system makes us lethargic and opting for chips and candies options looks more tempting to save our time when we are racing against to meet the deadlines.

Most of the times when we are at our workplace, we use brains to do work and when we work, use our brain; we often feel cravings to eat. And this is the reason that leads to the habit of junk eating.

In this article we will see, what the good options to choose for snacking are and how we can maintain a healthy lifestyle at our workplace.

WATER, PLEASE- Water is one of the most important things. Most of the while working we forget to have water. At times our brain signals for the thirst but we misunderstood it for the hunger and prone to eat food. So one should maintain at least 8-10 glasses per day. AVOID SWEETS- Munching on sugar candies is an unhealthy practice to follow at work. I know you will say that it provides you instant energy to do work but at the same time it also increases your blood sugar levels. Since you are having this only sitting at your desk, so it is difficult to keep a check on the no. also. You might end in eating more candies then you intended
to. You can opt much wiser option instead of sugar candy like baked sweet potato, dates, and banana chips and so on.

LESSER CAFFINE – One cup of coffee is enough at your workplace to get you going. Too much of caffeine intake leads to gastric issues, mood swings, acidity. If you need a drink water is a good option to go for. if you think water is a bland option for you, then go for some fresh juices, lemon water, coconut water, green tea, infused water.

PACK YOUR LEFT OVERS – If you want to make your life hassle free and solve the problem of finding a good snack for yourself. Pack the leftover food along with you. Eating healthy at work does not expect to be expensive and carrying leftover would also save your money. You can bring something like vegetable sandwiches, salads, fruits and so on.

SNACKING OPTIONS – Select some protein and carbohydrates based options which gives you a good quality protein and energy to do work such as nuts like pistachios, almonds, cashews, whole grain bread sticks, apple slices, baked tortilla chips, roasted snacks like murmura, channa, moong dal , bajra, jowar, raisins, celery, dark chocolates, unsalted air popped popcorns, low fat or fat free yoghurt. Eating healthy snack foods is just one part of a health maintenance strategy that should incorporate eating healthy and being active.

BEING ACTIVE – Sitting just 9-5 is bad for your health, body, muscles and joints. Walk around the office and stretch your body while you are sitting in every few time period. If you need to discuss something with your colleague instead of discussing on the phone, go to his / her seat and discuss.
